Colloidal silver is a simple mineral, antibiotic / antiseptic, safe and gentle yet very powerful. It consists of microscopic; electrically charged particles of pure silver suspended in water. It is well known in both orthodox and complementary medical fields, it's uses being well researched and documented. It was widely and successfully used before the discovery of penicillin. How does the use of Colloidal Silver compare with antibiotic drugs? Silver is one of the body's naturally occurring minerals, alongside the other more well known ones which include calcium, selenium, magnesium etc. Long before our ancestors discovered its healing properties Mother Nature in all her wisdom placed it in our soil, so that we might naturally ingest it in microscopic amounts. In the early 1900's, articles appeared in British and American medical journals on the use of silver for a variety of diseases. Up until World War 2 when modern antibiotics were introduced, silver was used in similar ways as drugs are today. It was injected intravenously and intramuscularly, used as a throat gargle, applied as a douche, taken orally and used as eye drops. However, with the advent of penicillin and the pharmaceutical industry in the 1940's, the use of silver rapidly declined in favour of modern patented antibiotics. But since the 1970's there has been the appearance of new strains of disease causing bacteria, which are resistant to antibiotics. These new strains have developed sophisticated resistance to almost every antibiotic invented thus far. The September 1995 issue of Time magazine featured an article entitled "Revenge of the Killer Microbes." Faced with AIDS, and with an ever increasing number of antibiotic- resistant bacteria, doctors were forced to admit that the medical profession was actually retreating in the battle against germs. The question ceased to be, when will infectious diseases be wiped out and became where will the next deadly new plague appear? " In "Use of Colloids in Health and Disease," the author Dr. Henry Crooks states, "all fungus, virus, bacterium, streptococcus, and other pathogenic organisms are killed in three or four minutes. In fact, there is no microbe known that is not killed by colloidal silver in six minutes or less in a dilution of as little as five parts per million." In over three years of testing, Professor of Microbiology, Dr. Ron Leavitt has discovered not one bacterium developed a resistance to silver (as they commonly do to antibiotics.) The following list is a guide to just some of the conditions for which colloidal silver may be helpful. No claims may be made to its efficacy. It should be noted that for any imbalance to occur there may be many causes and therefore many issues may need to be addressed in order to restore equilibrium. On a simple level, low resistance to coughs and colds may result from a highly stressful life, lack of sleep and a poor diet. So, alongside taking silver to boost the immune system and fight the immediate infection, steps need to be taken to reduce stress, have more sleep and improve ones diet.
